Professional Development Workshops
To help graduate students succeed in meeting day-to-day and future career challenges, the School of Geography and Development, together with SAGA, will offer 15 workshops during 2009-2010.
Designed to be like ‘drop-in clinics’ each session addresses a unique topic that will be of interest to graduate students at varying stages of their careers. Sample topics include developing skills in:
- Preparing successful grant proposals to fund your research
- The art of publishing – what, why, when, how
- Planning your career – now and after graduation, including job talks
- Presenting and getting the most out of conferences
Who: All students are eligible and encouraged to participate.
Leaders: A combination of faculty and graduate
students.
When: Alternate Fridays, 1-3pm Harvill 402.
Announcements of topic: Posted bi-weekly by
SAGA.
Credit: Students who wish can earn credit (695B) after participating in 6 workshops over the course of the year.
